CAYLEE ANTHONY: DNA SENT TO TENNESSEE UNIVERSITY 'BODY FARM'

All the bodies are from people who donated for scientific research.

A two-acre spot in East Tennessee known as the "Body Farm", littered with human corpses, has become a popular spot for real-life crime scene investigators. The Body Farm - part of the University of Tennessee Anthropological Research Facility - was set up in 1971, by forensic anthropologist Dr Bill Bass.

Dr Bass is proud of the success of the unit.

"We have certainly helped a lot of people, solved a lot of crimes, and put some bad people in prison," he told BBC World Service's Outlook programme.

Maggots

The Body Farm receives around 50 bodies a year, which are placed in the woods and other environments around the facility.

Intensive 10-week courses are run on the farm for investigators from police agencies around the US.

They learn the proper way to dig up and retrieve a buried body.

We teach them archaeological techniques so that they can recover evidence and bone in context," says Dr Lee Meadows-Jance, the co-ordinator of the Body Farm and one of the trainers.

A typical storyline of the CSI TV show might be that, when a human body is found, the forensic scientists try to establish how - and how long ago - the victim died.

Some of the methods of doing this have been pioneered by the Body Farm.

Prime among them is identifying the time of death through the presence of maggots, the recently-hatched larvae of blowflies.

ORLANDO: DNA PROVES CAYLEE DEAD! WHY DID MOM LIE? GUILTY OR NOT?

How long will Casey Anthony keep smiling?

FBI DNA Results: Caylee Likely Dead

ORLANDO, Fla. -- New FBI DNA results in the case of a missing Orlando girl indicate the girl is most likely dead.

Hair samples found in the trunk of Casey Anthony's car are definitely that of her daughter, Caylee, and the hair samples do show signs of decomposition, Local 6 confirmed Thursday.

Also, preliminary air samples taken from the vehicle indicate the foul odor in the car was that of a dead body.

Casey Back In Jail?

Meanwhile, the celebrity bounty hunter who helped orchestrate the release of Casey Anthony said the woman could be back behind bars within a matter of days.

Leonard Padilla said that he planned to begin the process of revoking Casey Anthony's $500,000 bond and it could be completed either late Thursday or Friday.

"Your position has changed. You believe that Caylee is dead," Local 6 News reporter Louis Bolden said in an interview with Padilla.

"Yes, I do," Padilla said. "The tests from the University of Tennessee -- they said that a human body was in the process of decomposition in the trunk. It's a longshot that it's somebody else."

"You think it's Caylee?" Bolden said.

"Yes," Padilla answered.

"And you think Casey hid the body," Bolden said.

"Yes," Padilla said. "Yes and yes."

Decomposing Body In Car

Wednesday, Local 6 reported that evidence removed from a car belonging to Casey Anthony indicated a decomposing body was in the vehicle's trunk.

Detectives now have scientific proof that a body has been in the trunk of Casey Anthony's car, sheriff's office sources confirmed to Local 6's Mike DeForest Wednesday night.

Early in the search for Caylee, Orange County sheriff's detectives took hair and air samples from Casey Anthony's vehicle. Local 6 showed video of CSI taking the samples in a garage.

The evidence was then sent to the University of Tennessee Body Farm -- a place that specializes in human decomposition.

Report: Body Was Decomposing in Trunk of Car Driven by Missing Tot's Mom

FOXNEWS.COM

Results taken from air samples reveal that a body was decomposing in the trunk of a car driven by the mother of missing Florida toddler Caylee Anthony, a local TV station reported.

Detectives with cadaver dogs said in July they detected the smell of human decomposition coming from the trunk of the Pontiac that the mother, Casey Anthony, was driving when police began investigating the dispappearance of her little girl, who was last seen more than two months ago.

The University of Tennessee "Body Farm" conducted the tests on the car's air samples Aug. 10, and on Wednesday their conclusion was released: a human corpse had been decomposing there, according to WESH-2 TV.

Back in July, Caylee's grandmother Cindy Anthony initially made a frantic 911 call to report that her daughter's car smelled like a dead body. She later said the scent just as easily could have been that of rotting pizza.

Casey Anthony, 22, remains a person of interest in her daughter's disappearance on or around June 16. She has pleaded not guilty to charges of child neglect and lying to investigators. She is out on house arrest after posting a $500,000 bond and being released Aug. 21 after a month-long stint in the Orange County Jail.

Caylee was two years old when she vanished; her third birthday was Aug. 9.

The test results are reportedly the first scientific evidence that there was a corpse in Anthony's vehicle.

Anthony has been offered a conditional immunity deal by authorities if she helps with the search, MYFOXOrlando.com reported, but she only has until Thursday to accept the deal, which is contigent upon concrete information that leads to the discovery of Caylee or her remains.

Mom Wanted to Give Up Missing Girl

(Aug. 26) - Casey Anthony tried to give her missing 3-year-old daughter up for adoption before she was born, but her mother wouldn't let her, according to legal documents that paint the 22-year-old Florida woman as a perplexed, scheming and unbalanced person who repeatedly defended obvious lies in police reports.

The 400 pages released by prosecutors this week leave little hope that Caylee Marie Anthony will be found safe. Anthony says her daughter has been missing since June 9, but she didn't report it until more than a month later. She faces charges of child neglect, obstruction and making false statements.

The documents include a poem Anthony wrote on July 7, eight days before she reported her daughter missing: "What is given, Can be taken away. Everyone lies. Everyone dies."

Prosecutors have called her a person of interest in what is appearing to be a murder case. She was freed last week on $500,000 bail and is on home confinement awaiting trial. Despite searches using divers and cadaver dogs, police have been unable to locate the Orlando girl.

The documents show a pregnant Casey Anthony, who gave birth to Caylee when she was 19, considered offering the child for adoption.
